Research

In addition to providing compassionate patient care, our clinicians are committed to advancing the field of neurology through clinical research. Research conducted by our dedicated and diverse group of physicians and scientists not only helps further understanding of neurologic diseases and disorders, but may also lead to new therapies and improved patient care.

Brain and Mind Research Institute

Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) has established the Brain and Mind Research Institute. The BMRI is directed by Dr. Costantino Iadecola, the Anne Parrish Titzell Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience. The core mission of the BMRI is to advance the recognition and treatment of brain disorders by elucidating their fundamental mechanisms, and translating these advances into novel preventive and therapeutic strategies for neurological patients. Please visit the Brain and Mind Research Institute for more information.

Clinical and Translational Neuroscience Unit

Directed by Dr. Hooman Kamel, the Clinical and Translational Neuroscience Unit (CTNU) at the Brain and Mind Research Institute explores neurologic disease through patient-oriented research programs. CTNU investigators pursue a variety of topics, ranging from stroke to consciousness disorders.

Clinical Trials

At our academic medical center, members of our team engage in clinical trials, research studies that help determine whether discoveries made in basic science research laboratories are effective for improving patient care. Patients who come to us for care may be offered opportunities to participate in a range of clinical trials of promising new therapies.
